Shared Futures Labs
Our public Shared Futures Labs bring our community together around big, thought-provoking questions in a friendly, happy-hour environment. We offer our Shared Futures Labs quarterly at a rotating location in and around Madison, WI. These Labs are free, with an option to donate towards refreshments and space rental.
Example seed topics:
Take your daily behaviorceuticals: According to neuroscientist “Kelly Lambert”, when we move and engage in physical activities and work, we can change the neurochemistry of our brains. What do we know about the connection between physical and mental wellbeing? How might we design certain behaviors into our daily life that increase our overall wellbeing?
Communities in hibernation: Our distinct seasons drive our behaviors, events and interactions throughout the year. How do patterns of community life shift seasonally? What is the effect? How might we create more vibrant community life in the winter months?
It looks safe, but I don’t feel safe: Perception of safety is linked to our ability to learn, think creativity, and trust others. If we don’t feel safe, nothing else matters. What is the effect of visible metal detectors and security measures on our children’s ability to learn? How might we create learning environments that are both physically safe, and enhance our perception of safety?
Building bridges in changing landscapes: Devastating flooding have changed our local landscapes. What is the balance between preservation and inevitable change? How might we use nature as a guide?
